1:37 PM - V:TES Not Pay-to-Play

In a post on the White Wolf forums, Philippe R. Boulle stated that White Wolf card games (like V:TES) are not bound by the new pay-to-play policy.

"Card games are not covered by this license. To learn more about organized play for Vampire: The Eternal Struggle visit its webpage at http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/."

The policy basically states that if an event organizer is charging fees for players to play a White Wolf game, they have to obtain a license from White Wolf to do so. A one year license costs $20 per player or organizer, depending on the nature of the game event.

UPDATE:

The current pay-to-play policy has been withdrawn. You can read about it in this post on the White Wolf Forums:

7:13 PM - Origins Saturday Qualifier Part 4

this is an audio post - click to play

Qualifiers:

David Setty
Chris Herro
Chris Berg
David Barasch
Josh Duffin
Kurt Kopp

Finalists:

David Setty
Chris Herro
Chris Berg
David Barasch
Mark Loughman

Sorry for my lack of updates after this point. I was called away. I'll gather some intel from my sources and get back to you.

UPDATE:

Account courtesy of Mark Loughman:

"Finals were me preying on Dave Setty (Democratis) preying on Christian Herro's thau/dom tremere/itremere preying on The Dave's(Barasch) Turbo Cybele preying on Chris Berg's Stanislava Dom Gangrel.

Dave B. is OBVIOUSLY the table threat and draws a fair amount of hate. The rest of us are skirmishing for quite a while. Dave Setty makes one tiny mistake and I punish him ( he forgot to blood doll up to Demo and announced another action...I said' wait, you have a mandatory hunt action'...then 2nd trad and punched the big D into torpor. Setty ousts Xian with a mix of deflections and his own bleeds. I get Setty shortly thereafter. Berg has called 2 PTOs on Cybele by this point...1 was DId the other burnt her, slowing Barasch considerably, but Xian's defensive stance allows him to bring out another the old fashioned way. Dave B doesn't think he can get the Gamgrel on his own and I know I need help to survive all that stealth dom-bleed so we cut a deal. Berg ousts me with his final action before i vote him out of existence.

As I'm gathering my stuff, Dave B bleeds a couple of times for 3 and Chris Mind rapes Cybele. Dave Golcondas her and starts on another one. Chris crushes his will with a third PTO, this time killing the Great Beast.

It was a wild game.

Chris Berg 3vp, GW. Dave Setty 1vp. Me 1 vp."

12:27 AM - Origins Thursday Part 9

Will Kristoff wins 6:00 PM Tournament with 4VPs.

Rumor has it that Connor Bell got his revenge in the finals of the 8:00 PM tournament and ousted his father John for the win.

UPDATE:

From Josh Duffin on The Madness Network:

"In the finals, I was the prey of the seven-year-old Connor Bell with hardcore Setite stealth bleed, grandprey of his father John Bell with Enkidu/Karsh rush; my prey was Matt Morgan with his Yazid Tamari/other Assamites vote-bleed-Church-Alamut-Heartblood deck; my grandprey was Jens Rasmussen with a cool Baali thing that included Undying Thirst (sa-WEET!). Connor bled me a bunch and I didn't draw enough bounce to keep my pool high and kill my prey better; I bled my prey a bunch anyway and nearly ousted him except not quite when he said he thought I could get him down to 1 but not quite oust him (I got him down to 1 but didn't quite oust him); that led to my downfall when one of the bounced bleeds to Jens, I played stealth on thinking that Jens had said I should cycle stealth; in fact I think he must have said NOT to cycle stealth (a little problem of hearing what you want to hear rather than what's actually said I suppose, heh), and Matt ousted Jens on account of that. I still got Matt the next turn or so but had lost a VP through my carelessness; I then got hit some by Enkidu I think, and Connor kept bleeding for a bunch, finishing me off. In the endgame Enkidu looked strong and all, but I think he ran out of blood or something (and certainly he had been impaired for a while by Undying Thirst making him want to either eat someone in torpor (and get burned in a blood hunt) or do nothing and be relatively useless), and Connor's guys kept bleeding for a bunch, and the outcome was about what you might expect. Connor 3 VPs, Josh 1, Matt 1, for Connor's first (I believe) tournament win. As someone said, he must be, pound for pound, the best VTES player on the planet. :-)"
